Days of the European Jewish Cultural Heritage is an international project organized and supported by the Cultural Heritage Department of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture and Council of Europe.
In September 2009 the Vilnius Yiddish Institute co-organized with the History Faculty of Vilnius University and the Cultural Heritage Department the seminar: Multicultural Vilnius: the Signs of Memory and the exhibition: The Signs of Confessional and Ethnic Identity in Vilnius. Apart from these scholarly and cultural events, the VYI hosted the lecture on the Jewish Heritage in Vilnius presented by Ms. Junona Bereznitski from the Lithuanian Jewish Community.
The VYI’s Assistant Director Ruta Puisyte participated in the events of the European Jewish Cultural Heritage Days in Joniskis. Ms. Puisyte spoke about an international project “Surviving history” and presented the documentary film “Surviving Histor. Portraits from Vilna”. (More about the project please read at www.linvingimprint.org) The event took place and was co-organized by the Regional History Museum of Joniskis.
