Visiting Fulbright Scholar joins the VYI

Menachem Kaiser has joined the faculty of the Vilnius Yiddish Institute as a 2010-2011 Fulbright Fellow. He is studying contemporary Jewish issues in Lithuania and the surrounding region. A graduate of Columbia University, where he majored in Philosophy and Economics, Menachem has taught Jewish subjects in schools and programs in Toronto, Jerusalem, Sydney, and New York, where he lectured in the Ivry Prozdor School in Jewish Theological Seminary. Additionally, Menachem is a respected writer and journalist whose work has appeared in Slate, Tablet, The Atlantic, Vogue, and elsewhere. He is also the western world's leading expert on Lithuanian vegetarianism.

In 2011 Spring Semester Menachem Kaiser will teach a course titled "Modern Jewish Culture in America".
