On Feb. 1 the VYI provides a lecture and video presentation on Last of the Mohican Yiddish Speakers of Eastern Europe. Prof. Dovid Katz of Vilnius University, the VYI's director of research, will appear at the University of London's Institute for Jewish Studies to discuss the VYI's ongoing discovery (and digital videography) of human Yididsh treasures in the course of expeditions in Lithuana, Belarus and Ukraine. Prof. Katz's talk will include a power point presentation and video clips from materials recently filmed under a grant fron Hanadiv (London), for which the VYI and its community are deeply grateful. The event will be preceded by a reception to honor the recent substantial Yiddish library gift of William Margulies to the Yiddish program at University College London at London University.
