Dr. Marija Krupoves-Berg in Concert!

Dr. Marija Krupoves-Berg, the institute’s lecturer in Yiddish Folklore and Folklore of the Stateless Cultures of Lithuania, recently performed in New York City. On October 25 she took part in the “All Star Yiddish” Singing event that was held at New York’s Rodeph Sholom synagogue. She was joined there by a number of the top Yiddish music personalities in the city, including Zalmen Mlotek and Adrienne Cooper.

During the first week of November Dr. Krupoves performed in Indianapolis, Indiana and in Dayton, Ohio, where she performed with Gerard Edery, a prominent singer who specializes in Sephardic musicology and folklore. Their interfaith program is called: “Two Faiths one voice.” The program includes Jewish and Christian songs, as well as the songs of many cultures in Belarusian, Galician, Ladino (Judezmo), Spanish, Tartar, Yiddish, and others.
