Professors A. Bumblauskas and Z. Butkus completed the post-doctoral habilitation process at Vilnius University

The VYI proudly announces that long-term consultants and friends of the Institute Professors Alfredas Bumblauskas and Zenonas Butkus have completed the post-doctoral habilitation process at Vilnius University. Professor Bumblauskas qualified for habilitation with a thesis titled “The Historical Models of Lithuanian History in 19^th and 20^th Century Historiography.” Professor Butkus’s thesis dealt with issues of international politics in the interwar period; it is titled “German and Soviet Diplomatic Influence on the Foreign and Internal Politics of the Baltic States from 1920 to1940.”

The habilitation process was carried out in the presence of the board members of the History and Philology departments of Vilnius University. The habilitation committee was made up of seven members, including VYI director Professor Sarunas Liekis.
